Who We Are

We are an active not-for-profit group of seniors in the Comox Valley who meet monthly (except for July and August) and advocate for the needs of our local elders. We look at what needs to change to help elders be connected, respected and live full, healthy and fulfilling lives. Among the issues we have supported:

  • Improved health services for seniors.
  • More support and financial help for family caregivers.
  • Improved bus transportation.

We have also written letters and hosted events focused on many other issues related to improving the lives of local seniors.

We have been holding, and hope to continue to hold, an event in May or June at the Florence Filberg Conference Hall. In these events we have had guest speakers (for example, the BC Seniors Advocate) and we have looked at many issues affecting elders. Two examples were “Elders and Isolation” (a panel held in 2024) and “The Family Caregiver: Supports Are Needed” (2025). We hope to continue to host these spring events with speakers who offer information on the challenges faced by seniors in our communities.
